Inverclyde Now Logo CHANCE To Get Cycling With Clyde Activity Bikes In Gourock

CLYDE Activity Bikes are hosting a Cycling UK Big Bike Revival event in Gourock next week.

Group-led cycle rides, electric bikes and tuition will all be part of the initiative to get more people social cycling locally.

From Wednesday 8 August until Saturday 11 August, there will be plenty of free opportunities to get cycling in the community whether as a beginner, novice or a returner.

The team of instructors will be based at the Royalle Club car park, St John’s Road. Bikes will be available for people to use or participants can bring their own if they prefer.

For those just looking for a little bit of cycling confidence and company there will be group-led rides along the shared waterfront footpath on Wednesday 8 August, at 10.30am and 6.30pm, and Thursday 9 August at 6.30pm.

Drop-in sessions for anyone looking for one-to-one tuition for cycling as a beginner, re-starter or novice will be held on Thursday 9 August, noon to 6pm; Friday 10 August, noon to 4pm; and Saturday 11 August, 10am to 2pm.

In addition, one-hour courses will be held for beginners on Friday 10 August at 2pm, and for novices on Saturday 11 August at 10.30am.

Also available to try throughout the week, courtesy of active travel project Community Tracks, will be some electric bikes, including a group-led run at noon on Friday 10 August.

Bike safety checks, advice and refreshments will also be available at the drop-in sessions.
