CARS Seized In Anti-Social Driving Clampdown

27 July, 2021 | Local

POLICE are targeting motorists who are using their vehicles in an anti-social manner at various locations in Inverclyde.

They have been responding to complaints including excessive engine revving, speeding in car parks, hard braking, tyre screeching and wheel spinning.

In the past few days officers have seized two cars that were being driven without insurance.

They also issued anti-social behaviour warning notices against a driver and car because of the manner of driving.

This means that if this vehicle or the driver is found to be driving in an anti-social manner again in the next 12 months, police can impound the vehicle.

Area commander Chief Inspector Paul Cameron: “I am making an appeal to these drivers to stop this kind of anti-social behaviour; think about the people you are affecting and act responsibly or we will take your car away.

“Police in Inverclyde will continue to target these individuals who continue to drive inappropriately and we are encouraging people to report issues as they occur, take note of vehicle registrations and if any CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage exist we can use this to invoke anti-social behaviour legislation against the driver and the vehicle involved.”

Incidents can be reported to police on 101, community wardens on 0800 01 317 01 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
