CANOPY Approved For Back Lane Venue In Greenock

PLANNERS have agreed that a roof can be put up over a Greenock nightclub’s outdoor seating area.

Inverclyde Council officials agreed that the sloping canopy structure can be installed at the Back Lane, the yard between Word Up and the Tobacco Warehouse in Haig Street.

The application was made by WBI Group.

Planners felt that the canopy would not have an adverse visual impact on the B-listed Tobacco Warehouse.

They also stated that, although use of the yard by the nightclub would result in activity and noise late into the night, the site is in a commercial area away from residential properties.

The Back Lane first operated in July to allow a safe venue that complied with covid pandemic restrictions.
