WELLINGTON Park Bowling Club showing the depth of their strength by winning all three Greenock and District Bowling Association leagues.

The Fours league was tight until the last two round of games, when Wellington Park started to create a gap at the top which they held on to.

The Triples league saw Wellington lead from the start of the season, increasing their lead week after week to win with a week to spare.

The Over-50s’ league, which was new for 2019, was very close the whole way through the season with the lead swapping hands several times, before Wellington scored maximum points on the last day to come out on top.

The Ardgowan Hospice Wapenschaw was held at the Ardgowan Club. The winning rink came from Wellington Park.

The Top 5 final was held at Grosvenor Bowling Club, the home club of the Greenock and District president Ricky Kennedy. This is a new competition for the district; Port Glasgow emerged as victors beating Gourock Park in a very tight contest, with the match being settled by the last game on the green.

This week sees the start of the Greenock and District championships — players should consult their club noticeboard for opponents and venues.

On Saturday 24 August the Championship semi-finals and final will be held at the Grosvenor Club; following the last final of the Championships, the presentation of prizes will take place when all winners, not just from the day but throughout the season, will be honoured.
