BIG Cash Boost For Charity Thanks To Whinhill Walkers — And ‘On The Ball’ Irish Setter Cesar

25 November, 2021 | Local

MEMBERS and friends of Whinhill Golf Club set a new fund-raising record from their annual sponsored walk.

A group of 26 walked nearly 12 miles from the club to Largs town centre, with a total of £4002 donated to Prostate Cancer UK, the highest amount since the walks started.

This takes the total raised for charity to just under £27,000 in this, the eleventh, staging of the walk for charity.

The club are delighted to have raised this amount of money for such a great charity.

The grand total included £300 that was collected by the selling of secondhand golf balls found by Cesar, an Irish Setter, on many of his walks on the course with his owner and past club champion Jim O’ Donnell Jnr.

The club thank Inverclyde Leisure, for providing food and a drink after the walk, and Frank McNeill of Hardies Coaches for providing the bus back.
