BID To Convert Hair Salon Into Pilates Venue

20 February, 2026 | Local

A PILATES studio is being proposed for hair salon premises being offered for lease in Greenock town centre.

Swan Grace Pilates has applied to change the use of the House of Ivy unit at 207 Dalrymple Street.

In a statement to planning officials the applicant explains: “The addition of new premises will allow Swan Grace Pilates to offer clients a more modern, aesthetically pleasing studio environment. Our existing Cathcart Street studio, which houses eight reformer beds, will be retained and used for smaller, more personalised class sizes. The proposed Dalrymple Street premises will provide a dedicated entrance where clients can remove shoes and coats, along with a small waiting area for those who arrive early.

“The new studio will operate as a quiet, calm space and will not create any disruption to neighbouring businesses. At peak times, the maximum number of people on site will be 12. The current unit operates as a hair and beauty salon, which typically accommodates a similar or greater number of clients at any one time.

“Classes are scheduled early in the morning before standard office hours, in the evenings after work, and on Saturdays.

“Swan Grace Pilates has grown steadily and now attracts a strong and loyal customer base, fostering a positive community atmosphere across Inverclyde. Expanding into additional premises will allow us to continue supporting our clients on their fitness and wellbeing journey while meeting increasing demand in a professional and considered way.”

The application is pending consideration by Inverclyde Council officials.
