TWO Scout and Rainbow groups in Inverclyde have received donations totalling £1,250 from the team at the Amazon fulfilment centre in Gourock.

The money will support building work for a new headquarters for the 32nd Greenock and District Scout group, and the purchase of activity packs for the 2nd Larkfield Rainbows.

Lorna Sharples, site leader at Amazon in Gourock, said: “We know the huge impact that groups like the Scouts and Girlguiding have on the development of children and young people, so we wanted to show our support with these donations.”

David McCallum, trustee of the 32nd Greenock and District Scout Group, said: “Amazon has been a terrific support, providing vital funds to advance our new Scout/community hub at Bank Street, Greenock.

“Our Phase one refurbishment is now complete with an enormous downstairs wing serving the people of Upper Central Greenock.

“The young people are warm and cosy as a direct result of Amazon’s funding providing a new set of radiators and heating pipework infrastructure.”
