A DRIVER was allegedly was found to be intoxicated through drugs by police in Greenock.
Officers were called to Gibshill Road just before 9am on Monday.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “Police attended immediately and traced the driver slumped over the steering wheel.”
The 43-year-old was arrested and charged with a number of road traffic-related offences and is scheduled to appear at court on a later date.
Community Inspector Andrew Durk said: “This is another unacceptable incident which could have been catastrophic if this driver wasn’t stopped before he managed to drive away.
“I would like to re-emphasis that its unacceptable and irresponsible for anyone to drive whilst intoxicated — please don’t do it or you will be arrested.
“If you suspect someone is driving while intoxicated please contact police immediately.”
