GREENOCK Golf Club’s Championship qualifying went ahead as planned with wet conditions throwing up a wide range of scores across the board.

In the end, 154 was required to qualify which meant that several big names and past champions missed the cut.

With a first round 79, Chris McAulay made sure he would be in the last 16 with an excellent round of 69.

However, his score would not be the lowest on the day as Al Roy carded an outstanding 66 to secure the top qualifying spot and the Sid Montford Trophy.

Despite a nervy finish, Craig Brown sneaked into the last 16 whilst Alistair Robertson qualifies for the very first time.

The draw for the first matchplay round was made as follows (scores in brackets):

Ricardo Di Murro (147) v Mark Crawford (150)

Chris McAulay (148) v Al Roy (140)

Stuart Gallagher (146) v Stephen Mullan (142)

Craig Brown (154) v Paul Dorrian (144)

Simon Middleton (151) v Paul McFarlane (146)

Graeme McLellan (151) v Alistair Robertson (154)

Crawford Rae (146) v Dave McFarlane (147)
