TWO sport projects in Inverclyde are set for a welcome cash boost thanks to National Lottery Awards for All Scotland.

The Judy Murray Foundation and Inverclyde Curling Development Group will benefit from grants of £6,000 and £1,338 respectively, through The National Lottery Community Fund in partnership with sportscotland.

The Judy Murray Foundation will use the funding to deliver a range of free family tennis sessions as well as a 12-day training programme for local young people.

Inverclyde Curling Development Group will buy new equipment.

Chief executive of the Judy Murray Foundation, Melodie Crumlin said: “Not everyone can afford tennis lessons or can join a club and not everyone has a court but everyone should have the chance to try.

“This funding will enable the foundation to provide accessible tennis opportunities that are community led, free, fun and on the doorstep of young people and families within the Inverclyde area.

“Sport and physical activity has the power to change people’s lives. Not only does it improve health, happiness and confidence, it also develops a multitude of life skills that empower people and helps them unlock their potential.”
