GREENOCK Golf Club is offering health workers the chance to play golf free of charge.

The club is due to re-open on Friday (29 May) under coronavirus safe-distancing measures.

Greenock Golf Club stated: “We do aim to re-open our 27 holes of golf across our 18 and nine-hole courses as of Friday.

“As a gesture of support and admiration to the NHS workers in Inverclyde, we want to offer those that might enjoy golf, but are not members, some outdoor relaxation away from the stress and demands of the job they are doing, free of charge.

The offer will be available on Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday on the club’s nine-hole course which offers spectacular views across the Clyde estuary to Argyll and beyond.

Tee times must be booked in advance and can be arranged by either emailing secretary@greenockgolfclub.co.uk or by telephone on 01475 787236.

Current safe distancing measures and necessary restrictions to comply with the Scottish Government’s phase one approach will be explained on enquiry.

During lockdown, the course has provided an area for the public to exercise and the club is urging people to be on the look-out after golf resumes as planned from Friday.
