PostHeaderIcon FOOTBALL -- Port Glasgow Boys’ Club Report

Port Glasgow Boys’ Club Fun Fours

Port Glasgow BC 'A' -- Five wins
Port Glasgow BC 'B' –- Four wins, one defeat
Port Glasgow BC 'C' -– Two wins, three defeats

All the boys are doing really well and playing some nice football. Thanks go to sponsors Marcus Humphrey House, to the parents for their continued support and to Gillian for helping out.

Port Glasgow BC 2003s lost 7 - 5 on Saturday but there were good performances from Ryan O'Connor, Joseph Dow, John Rogers, Brendan Thompson and Luke Cunningham. The team are away from home this Saturday to Scotstoun; boys will be told at training about match details. Sponsored by Carpetrite

Port Glasgow BC 2001s played Houston Utd on Saturday morning. The boys started the game well but, as the game progressed, Houston took their chances and the Port boys didn't. In the second half, Houston extended their lead and Port boys couldn't get themselves back into the game. This was a disappointing performance from the boys who have been playing well over the last six weeks. The team are looking to add further players -- if interested contact Ian on 07753 846465. Thanks to sponsor Inverweld.

Under-14s -- Port Glasgow BC 6 Pirrie Park 4

Port went one-nil up through Connor Duffy and then Captain Jimmy McGowan finished from inside the box to make it two. Pirrie pulled one back when the ball was lost by the Port midfield. Captain Jimmy was on top form and fought hard to win the ball in the middle of the park for Connor Duffy to then pick it up and coolly slot home. Pirrie pulled one back 10 minutes in to the second half and then made it three each when a mix-up in the Port defence let them loose again. However, the Port made it 4 -- 3 just a minute later through Kyle Bartolini. Some beautiful passes were played between Barto and Ciaran Murray down the righthand side and also between Jimmy and Duffy on the left of the park but no one could finish off the hard work. Another opportunity came for Duffy but he hit the bar and the scraps couldn't be picked up either. Through a break in play, Pirrie ran up the park to make it 4 -- 4 but the Port weren't done yet and a few substitutions worked for them when Lewis Emerson played a lovely ball across to Connor Duffy to secure his hat trick, before Lewis got himself on the score sheet to impress his brothers at the side of the park. Referee’s man of the match: Jimmy McGowan. The 14s play Broomhill at 10am on Saturday.

Under-16s -- Scottish Cup -- Port Glasgow BC 4 Broomhill 2

In this second round Scottish cup tie, goals from Jack Trainner, Aiden Sharp, Graeme Stevenson and Christopher Grierson ensured a good victory for the Port. Referee’s man of the match was Jack McGrogan. The boys play at Parklea this Saturday with a 2pm kick-off against East End.

Under-19s -- There was no league game this week but the side will play Rossvale at home on Sunday, 2pm.
