CAR Showroom Shop Plan Refused

INVERCLYDE Planning Board refused permission for a former Greenock car showroom to be turned into a shop.
The proposal involved demolishing part of the building at 21 Eldon Street, at the corner of Fox Street, and turning what’s left into a 287 square metre retail unit.
Councillors were concerned about parking and traffic at the site.
Planning guidelines require there to be 18 parking spaces for the development. The new application included six spaces but council officials believed there were “ample on-street opportunities” to accommodate the remaining 12. Nineteen objections were received from the public raising concerns about parking, increased traffic, late opening hours, noise from customers and litter.
