WOMAN Cut From Wreckage After A78 Crash
A WOMAN was trapped after a crash involving her broken down car on the A78 at IBM, near Greenock.
Several vehicles were involved in the collision late on Wednesday afternoon.
A 38-year-old woman was released by rescue crews from the wreckage of her car which had been hit by two other vehicles after breaking down on the road. Police said today that the woman had not been seriously injured and had been allowed home from hospital.
Brian McArthur from Inverkip came across the crash just after it happened. He said: "I was too far back to see the actual moment of collision. As I approached IBM I saw a person on the road in the distance waving for traffic to stop.
"People involved in the incident were getting out of their vehicles, except for the black car. It was clear that this person was trapped in the wreckage. Police were quickly on the scene followed by ambulance and fire service.
"The roof of the black car was removed to get access but this was not successful and they also had to remove the driver door."
The crash caused major traffic delays as the road was closed in both directions for some time.
