PostHeaderIcon TESCO 'Click And Collect' Canopy Approved

TESCO in Port Glasgow have been given permission to build a ‘click and collect’ canopy in the car park for customer collection of pre-ordered shopping.

Inverclyde Council planning officials approved the structure which will take up eight parking spaces in an area of the car park that’s not heavily used.

The canopy, to be built beside the eastern elevation of the supermarket, will be about 3.4metres high and will have an open appearance apart from two signage panels.

It will acts as a “click and collect” area allowing customers to order their shopping on-line and then collect it at the new facility during an appointed timeslot. Staff will collect and bag the shopping and take it by van to the collection area.

The canopy is required to give protection to shoppers in case of bad weather.

Planners previously refused a larger building at a different part of the car park.
