THE sky is literally the limit for students of a new cabin crew part-time evening course at James Watt College.

It has been designed in conjunction with leading leisure airline Jet2.com, who will guarantee an interview to those who successfully complete the course.

The Introduction to Cabin Crew course will provide students with the underpinning knowledge to enable them to pursue a career as a member of airline cabin crew.

The course provides an introduction to aircraft emergency situations, dealing with passengers on board an aircraft and making passenger announcements. Students will learn about different airlines and the services they provide along with customer care skills, health and safety, effective team-working and communication skills.

Travel and tourism lecturer at the college, Beverley Hardie, said: “This taster course has been designed with input from Jet2.com and other aviation experts to ensure the course is up-to-date and relevant. Having this guaranteed interview with Jet2.com is a key feature of the course and a real chance to get a foot in the door with the airline.

“Our course will also give excellent interview and recruitment information for other leading airlines in this industry. Great emphasis is placed upon finding the right candidates for this demanding job and candidates will be provided with the skills to equip them for a career in this rewarding industry.”

Applicants for the course must have two Standard Grade passes at level 3 or above and must be 18-years-old by the completion date. Airlines have their own selection criteria which includes applicants being physically fit, having the right to work in the UK indefinitely, being able to swim 25 meters, being at least 5ft 2 in height and having a valid passport.
