PostHeaderIcon DRIVERS Face Delays On A78 Through Largs

DRIVERS face disruption on the A78 through Largs during resurfacing work from Sunday (17 June).

Work will take place between Gogo Water and the Haylie Brae for five days, a stretch of road which carries 3,500 vehicles a day.

The work, to be carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, is scheduled to avoid the busiest periods and minimise disruption.

Vehicles will be managed by traffic signals and supported by a convoy vehicle. This is requiread because of the restricted road widths and to ensure the safety of both the workforce and the travelling public. This will lead to a delay in travel times, expected to be around ten minutes. Restrictions will be in place from 7am till 5pm on Sunday 17 June and from 9.30 am till 4pm on the following weekdays until the work ends on Thursday 21 June.

Colin MacKenzie, operating company representative, Amey said: “This scheme will result in real improvements to the condition of the road. Regrettably there will be some disruption because of the roadworks, but we hope residents are able to be patient with us for this short period of time while we deliver the project, which will result in a smoother more even road surface.”
