ALLEGED Attempted Murder Among Weekend Violence
A TEENAGE girl has been arrested for an alleged attempted murder in Port Glasgow as police investigate several violent incidents over the weekend.
The 18-year-old is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today in connection with an incident in which a 23-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries.
The alleged attack took place in a common close in Montgomerie Street around 4.30am on Sunday.
Around 4.15am on Sunday, a 25-year-old man was seriously assaulted during a street disturbance in Wren Road, Greenock.
The victim suffered severe facial injuries and has been detained at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow. Another man suffered minor injuries during the altercation which involved a number of people.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 01475 492500.
Detectives are also appealing for witnesses to another serious assault which took place on Friday around 9.15pm in Crescent Street, Greenock.
A 31-year-old man suffered several lacerations to his face and head when he was attacked by a group of six males. He needed hospital treatment.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested for allegedly robbing a man in Wellington Street, Greenock, around 8.50pm on Friday.
