PostHeaderIcon NO Midnight Curtain Calls For New Theatre

COUNCIL planners have refused a request to let a new theatre and music academy stay open later.

An application was made to overturn a condition which bans the facility at the former Orangefield Baptist Church, Greenock, from having activities after 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

When the theatre and music academy was approved earlier this year it was on condition that there would be no live music, performances, rehearsals and classes between 11pm and 7am on any day.

The applicant asked if that could be altered so that activities could continue until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The council’s head of safer and inclusive communities was against the change because of housing nearby. Five public objections were also received.

Planning officials at Inverclyde Council have refused the extension saying residents would suffer because of late night noise
