LUXURY cruise ship Silver Explorer comes to Greenock on Wednesday (30 May).

The ship has previously been to the Clyde but under her previous name, Prince Albert II.

Silver Explorer will be finishing an 11-day trip at the Ocean Terminal on 30 May and departs on a 14-day voyage – prices starting around £4,800 -- to Reykjavik, Iceland calling first at Douglas, Isle of Man, then Dublin, Gigha, more Scottish islands and Denmark en route.

The 6,000-tonne Silver Explorer carries just 132 guests and has almost as many crew – 117.

A purpose-built expedition ship, Silver Explorer was designed for navigating waters in some of the world’s most remote destinations, including both of earth’s polar regions. A strengthened hull enables Silver Explorer to push through ice floes. A fleet of Zodiac boats allows passengers to visit even the most off-the-beaten path locations and an expert expedition team provides insight and understanding to each cruise adventure.
