PLANT Sale And Coffee Morning -- LYLE Kirk are holding a plant sale and coffee morning with home baking at their Union Street building in Greenock on Saturday (25 May) from 10am to noon. Entry to the coffee morning is £2.50 (no entrance fee if only purchasing plants.)
CAFE Flooded By Sprinkler -- IT was ‘all hands on deck’ when a sprinkler activated at Café Leo in the Oak Mall, Greenock yesterday. Café staff were helped by mall cleaning and security staff and a Scottish Fire and Rescue service crew for the clean-up. The café was able to re-open today. FORMER Staff And Pupils Invited To St Columba's Party -- MORE than 60 past pupils and staff of St Columba’s School, Gourock are planning to go along to a 1930s tea party being held on the afternoon of Sunday 23 June to celebrate the move to a new school building. They will join in with the celebration being held with present staff, parents and pupils. The school is moving from its temporary home at Inverkip Road, Greenock, to the former Gourock High building at Fletcher Avenue later this year. WESTBURN Church Fete -- WESTBURN Church are holding a fete in the church halls and grounds in Nelson Street, Greenock on Saturday (25 May) from 10am to 3pm. Entry ticket is by a donation of £2 which will include tea or coffee. There will be a range of stalls including tea room, home baking, fancy goods, bric-a-brac, books and CDs, plant stall, and barbeque. Other attractions include a bouncy castle, Zorb ball, face-painting, lucky dip and tuck shop. The fete will be opened by David Faller of Inverclyde Radio.
PARENT And Toddler Event At Cinema -- GREENOCK'S Waterfront Cinema holds its next parent and toddler screening on Thursday (23 May) at noon, showing new animated adventure Epic. Tickets are £5 per child and one parent goes free. Contact the cinema on 01475 732201.
INVERKIP And Wemyss Bay Elections -- ELECTIONS are to be held for five vacancies on Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Community council. Candidates must be 16 or over and be on the electoral register for the community council’s area. PORT Glasgow East AGM -- PORT Glasgow East Community Council hold their annual general meeting at Boglestone Community Centre on Wednesday 22 May from 7 till 9pm. Members of the public are welcome.
BROOMHILL Association's AGM -- BROOMHILL Tenants and Residents Association annual general meeting is on Tuesday 4 June at 7pm in Prospecthill Christian Fellowship’s hall in Prospecthill Street, Greenock. The Jericho Boys will be performing a scene from their latest play "Frankie Says Relapse". Local councillors, police and community wardens are expected to attend. Members of the public will be asked to approve an addition to the constitution stating that no committee member shall hold more than one office-bearer role.
CONCERT For Women’s Aid - A CONCERT by local singer/songwriter Yvonne Lyon has been organised by Greenock Baptist Church with proceeds going to Inverclyde Women’s Aid. SPRING Bling Tabletop Sale -- INVERCLYDE Youth For Christ are holding a spring bling tabletop sale at Greenock Methodist Church, Ardgowan Street on Saturday 25 May, noon to 2pm. Items on sale will include jewellery, shoes, cakes, books, music, accessories and bric-a-brac. Entry is £1.50.
BRASS Band’s Summer Concert -- RIVERSIDE Youth Band's summer concert is on Friday 7 June at 7.30pm in Port Glasgow Town Hall. WHERRIES Night In Aid Of Scout Group -- INVERCLYDE folk band The Wherries are having a concert in Lyle Kirk’s Newark Street building in Greenock to raise funds for the Finnart Explorer Scout Unit and participants going on a trip to Estonia. It takes place on Friday 7 June at 7pm. Tickets are £10 and a light supper will be provided. Those going are welcome to take their own refreshments (excluding spirits).
