TWO men allegedly struggled with police officers who stopped and searched them in central Greenock.

Officers on patrol observed two males apparently acting suspiciously on Lynedoch street around 1am on Saturday.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: “The circumstances justified the males being stopped and searched. One of the males was allegedly found in possession of a knife.

“A struggle allegedly began between both males and police officers. One of the males allegedly attempted to bite an officer however was restrained before managing to cause any injury.”

The men, both aged 27, were charged with various offences including possession of a knife, resisting arrest and police assault.

They were both held in custody for court.
