PostHeaderIcon CHANGES To Greenock Municipal Buildings

On one side of the Municipal Buildings, the facade is to be shored up by a wall (and presumably Council Staff retain parking spaces behind the wall).

On the other side, the covered walkway part of the building’s architecture which kids love and which serves a public function by protecting us from wind and weather when walking through the town to Clyde Square is lost to the people of the town. [Details, click here] Just like that.  No “This is your building, what do you think? Couple of centuries of history destroyed by Philistinian double-glazing, is that all right with you?” Just “It’s going, we need more space”.  The Council (which is supposed to be under austerity measures) wants to expand its offices.

I am not alone in being totally sick of seeing this area’s architecture interfered with by the whims of people who don’t plan anything at all.  Could the “planners” who make it up as they go along please leave the structure of that beautiful building as it was intended to be?

Expand your offices behind the facade and leave the public walkway as it should be - public and a beautiful part of the town.
