PostHeaderIcon MCGILL'S Acquire Port Glasgow Routes

INVERCLYDE’S biggest bus firm has expanded again – taking over four routes from Slaemuir Coaches from Monday.

McGill’s are operating the services from Greenock to Kilmacolm, Slaemuir, Devol and Oronsay Avenue.

Vehicles which Slaemuir ran on the routes are appearing with McGill’s lettering on.

The change was announced in a statement on the McGill’s website. It stated: “The agreement will allow Slaemuir to develop their activities in the coaching, private hire and contract hire side of the business. McGill's would like to take this opportunity of wishing Slaemuir every success with this initiative.”

McGill’s now provide most of the local bus services in Inverclyde, in contrast to the situation some years ago when the area was renowned for the number of small operators vying for business.

The company have developed considerably in the past couple of years introducing new routes and increasing frequency on others.
