A CYCLIST was seriously injured after colliding with a child in Greenock.

A trauma team was sent by helicopter to treat the 34-year-old woman who was unconscious following the accident in Lyle Road just after 3pm, Friday.

She was flown to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. Police said today that her condition was not considered life-threatening.

The 12-year-old child was not seriously injured.

The road was closed while emergency personnel dealt with the incident and police investigated.

The air ambulance landed in Lyle Park.

No one has been charged in connection with the incident.
