Inverclyde Now Logo SOLDIERS Set Up Virus Testing Site In Greenock

22 May, 2020 | Local

A MOBILE coronavirus testing site manned by the army started operating in Greenock today (Friday).

Soldiers are providing the service in the car park at the Waterfront lesiure complex.

It is part of the UK Government’s testing programme to determine whether those with symptoms, however mild, have the virus.

Inverclyde Council leader, Councillor Stephen McCabe, said: “This is an additional testing facility to support the community across Inverclyde.

“The benefit of the mobile testing site is that is can visit locations across the area if required, but crucially it will increase the local capacity for tests.

“With so many people affected by coronavirus in our area it is welcome that we now have this additional testing capacity. It will help to support our community and give a clearer indication on the rate of infection across Inverclyde.”
