27 June, 2020 | Noticeboard

INVERCLYDE Council’s Books on Wheels service is being made available to residents who are shielding and people who are over 75.

They will be able to get library books delivered to their homes from 13 July.

People who are housebound were already eligible and the Books on Wheels service for them resumes from Monday (29 June).

Anyone who wants to start using the service for the first time will need to call Greenock Central Library on 01475 712323, Gourock Library on 01475 712340 or Port Glasgow Library on 01475 715629. Phone lines will be open from 6 July, from 10am to noon, Monday to Friday.

Books are delivered to any area in Inverclyde.

Councillor Jim Clocherty, convener of Inverclyde Council’s education and communities committee, said: “These services are a lifeline for people who are vulnerable and who struggle to get out and about.”
