RESIDENTS of Inverclyde are benefiting from a variety of activity packs and cooking equipment thanks to a joint project involving a housing association and local volunteers.

Money awarded by the Scottish Government’s Wellbeing Fund is being used by River Clyde Homes and Inverclyde Community Action Response Group (ICARG) to help people who feel isolated at home because of the can pandemic.

Packs covering a range of activities are available including nature and gardening, at-home activities, outdoor games and arts and crafts.

There is also support for those who want to cook at home including everyday kitchen utensils and cooking equipment for those who need them.

ICARG member Belville Community Gardens is welcoming referrals to the scheme from River Clyde Homes customers and the wider community — to apply call 0800 013 2196.

Heather Mitchell, inclusive communities manager at River Clyde Homes, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Belville Community Garden on this project.

“Many of our customers and the wider community have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and we’re committed to supporting our communities.

“We know that many customers are feeling isolated during this time, especially those who are shielding, and hope that these packs will alleviate some of this.”

Laura Reilly of Belville Community Garden, said: “Belville Community Garden is pleased to partner with River Clyde Homes in this project. The activity packs will be a great boost for people — both in practical terms and also helping keep minds and bodies active over the summer.

“We have tried to make the choice as varied as we can with everything from arts and crafts to cookery and outdoor games sets to choose from.”

Packs will be limited to two per person and are for those 18 or over.

Referrals for cooking equipment will be needs-based and subject to availability.
